Ilona Regulski, Curator of Written Inscriptions in the Department of Ancient Egypt and Sudan, discusses the Rosetta Stone, one of the Museum's most famous objects, and key to the decipherment of ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs.

She looks at what the Rosetta Stone says, why its inscription is so important, what it tells us about ancient Egypt, and examines its context. She also explores how Jean-François Champollion came across this object, and how he used it in his decipherment of Egyptian hieroglyphs.
