Mary Beard, Newnham College, Cambridge, reflects on the ways women have been heard in public, from Homer’s Odyssey to Margaret Thatcher to internet trolls.

Beard's books include The Parthenon, The Colosseum and Pompeii, which won the Wolfson History Prize.
