A day celebrating African languages and exploring the
diversity of African cultures through literature, music and
visual arts

Musicians, poets and storytellers included Al-Saddiq, Al-Raddi,
Abdullahi Bootaan, Nickens Nkoso, Freddy Macha and Said Hussein,
with a keynote speech from one of Africa’s greatest living writers,
Ngugi wa Thiong’o, and an intimate acoustic set from the lively,
soulful singer-songwriter Coco Mbassi. There were also debates
and talks on oral tradition, poetry and plays, music and publishing
industries, education and translation.
