World Collections Programme and India
The WCP is funding or will be engaged in the following
activity:
1) A British Library-led scoping project to begin to
develop better bilateral relationships in India. The BL will act as
a representative for the WCP and therefore seek to develop links
which could be of benefit to other WCP partners.
2) Digitise key records from the India Office
Records collection at the BL for use in the UK and
India.
3) Indian Life and Landscapes: Paintings and Drawings by
Western Artists, 1670 - 1900. This is a collaborative
exhibition developed jointly by the V&A and CSMVS (Mumbai) to
be shown at the CSMVS (opening December 2008) with the possibility
of touring to other Indian venues afterwards.
4) The WCP has provided a contribution towards the British
Museum’s 2008 International Curatorial Summer School, which has
been adapted to make best use of the expertise of all six
institutions. Representatives from museums in India secured places
on this Summer School.
