Ms Val Gooding CBE

Val Gooding CBE is a non-executive director to the BBC's Executive Board. She took up her appointment on 1 January 2008. She is also a non-executive director of Standard Chartered and J Sainsbury. 

Val was the Chief Executive of BUPA from 1998 to 2008. She joined BUPA from British Airways in 1996. She worked with British Airways for more than 20 years in a variety of posts including Head of Cabin Services, Head of Marketing and Director of Asia Pacific. 

She is an Advisory Board Member of Warwick Business School and a non-executive director of the Lawn Tennis Association. Val was awarded the CBE for services to business in the 2002 New Year's Honours list. 

Val's interests include tennis, theatre, travel, keeping fit and family life. She is married with two teenage sons.
