Sir James Sassoon

Sir James Sassoon is a member of the Economic Recovery Committee of the Shadow Cabinet and a non-executive director of both The Merchants Trust PLC and the Nuclear Liabilities Fund.

James qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG and spent most of his career at SG Warburg/UBS Warburg, latterly as Vice Chairman, Investment Banking. From 2002 to 2006 he was Managing Director, Finance and Industry at HM Treasury and was President of the Financial Action Task Force in 2007/8. He is a trustee of the Gerald Coke Handel Foundation and a member of the Royal Opera House Foundation Advisory Group. He was formerly a trustee of the National Gallery Trust.

James is married with three children.
