Baroness Kennedy of the Shaws
Helena Kennedy has spent her professional life championing
civil liberties and promoting human rights. She was called to the
Bar, Gray’s Inn, in 1972, was appointed Queen’s Counsel in
1991 and a Bencher of Gray’s Inn in 1999.
Helena has used many public platforms – including the House of
Lords, to which she was elevated in 1997 – to argue with passion,
wit and humanity for social justice. She has also written and
broadcast on a wide range of issues, from medical negligence to the
rights of women and children.
She enjoys the theatre and spending time with family and
friends.
