Georgios studied at the
Universities of Athens (BA) and Edinburgh (MSc), and completed
a PhD on Cypriot and Phoenician Pottery in the Early
Iron Age Aegean at the University of Athens under Professor Nota
Kourou. During this time he also worked for the Greek
Archaeological Service and the Archaeological and Historical
Institute of Rhodes. Georgios has also excavated at the
archaeological sites of Tenos-Xobourgo, Kardamaina, and Lefkandi in
Greece, at Cuma in Italy and Palaepaphos on Cyprus.
His research interests include Greek Geometric
and early Archaic pottery, trade networks in the Early Iron Age
Aegean, cultural interaction between Greece, Cyprus and the
Syro-Palestinian littoral, pottery imitations and their
implication.
Georgios joined the British Museum in 2008 as
a curator on the Naukratis Project
