Julie joined the British Museum in 2007 as its first Preventive
conservator. Her main areas of responsibility include managing the
environmental monitoring system, which records conditions in
galleries and stores, and co-ordinating the integrated pest
management programme to protect the collection from insect pest
damage. Julie also co-ordinates the programme for testing storage
and display materials to ensure they are safe to use with the
collection. She advises on temporary exhibitions, permanent gallery
redevelopments, loans, storage projects and emergency planning.
Julie worked at the Textile Museum of Canada in Toronto before
moving to the UK, where she worked as a Preventive conservator at
Historic Royal Palaces before joining the British Museum.
