Julie joined the British Museum in 2007 as its first Preventive conservator. Her main areas of responsibility include managing the environmental monitoring system, which records conditions in galleries and stores, and co-ordinating the integrated pest management programme to protect the collection from insect pest damage. Julie also co-ordinates the programme for testing storage and display materials to ensure they are safe to use with the collection. She advises on temporary exhibitions, permanent gallery redevelopments, loans, storage projects and emergency planning.
Julie worked at the Textile Museum of Canada in Toronto before moving to the UK, where she worked as a Preventive conservator at Historic Royal Palaces before joining the British Museum.
