Artemis joined the British Museum in 2005 and has been the Curator of African Money since January 2007. She has mainly been working on cataloguing the African money collection so that it can be made available online. She is also working to create educational resources on the history of money in Africa.

Her research interests focus on traditional African currencies and textiles as currency in West and Central Africa. She is also interested in the transition of African countries from colonial rule to independence, and the British Museum and its use of the African collections in the twenty-first century.

Artemis has an MA in History of Art from Birkbeck College, University of London and she is currently studying for an MA in Arts Management and Policy in the same institution.
