Sona Datta currently works in the Department of Asia as the Tabor Foundation Research Assistant. A graduate of King’s College, Cambridge, Sona has had a long-standing interest in the art and culture of South Asia. At the School of Oriental & African Studies, University of London, she majored in architectural history and studied Tamil and Sanskrit. Her Master’s dissertation was entitled Urban Patua: The Art of Jamini Roy (1996). Sona started her doctoral research at Sussex University and is now completing her PhD at the Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff.

Durga at The Museum
(BBC Wales) 10 part series on the BM; one episode on the Voices of Bengal season.

Masterpieces
from the British Museum (BBC 4): participated in 2  programmes: Tara; Indian Paintings at the British Museum.

Voices of Bengal Aug-Dec 2006:
Season of Exhibitions, Films and other cultural activities concerned with the music, art and culture of Bangladesh and West Bengal. Included the construction of a 20’ high image of the ten-armed goddess, Durga, in situ, in the Great Court by master craftsmen from West Bengal.
