Library and archives
The library of the Department of Coins and Medals is one of the
world’s leading numismatic libraries, reflecting the scope of the
department’s comprehensive collections and interests. These range
from the history of numismatics and its origins in antiquarianism
to contemporary art medals and badges.
The Library contains around 20,000 books, journals, pamphlets
and sales catalogues representing a global coverage of numismatics,
economics and associated background histories as well as the
catalogues of coins, medals,
tokens and banknotes, which are core to research and study.
