Sarah Collins is the curator responsible for the Early Mesopotamia collections (from prehistory to about 1500 BC). She is an archaeologist and has excavated extensively including in Iraq, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon and is currently responsible for the British Museum excavations at Sidon, Lebanon www.sidonexcavation.org

Since 2003 she has been involved in the Museums’ efforts to assist the Iraqi Museum and with Iraqi cultural heritage issues (including with training for Iraqi curators and archaeologists).

In 2007 Sarah was awarded the OBE for services to museums.
