Jeffrey Spencer, who joined the British Museum in 1975, has
managerial and curatorial responsibilities for the advancement of
all aspects of activity in the Department of Ancient Egypt and
Sudan. The role combines administrative matters necessary for the
operation of the Department, curation of the collection and
academic research, including fieldwork in Egypt. The latter work
has in recent years been focused on the archaeology of the Nile
Delta and has helped to place in context objects from this region
