Lord Powell of Bayswater KCMG
Lord Powell of Bayswater KCMG was Private Secretary and
adviser on foreign affairs and defence to Margaret Thatcher when
she was Prime Minister and continued in the same role for the first
months of John Major's government. Since 1992 he has been an
international businessman, currently serving on the board of a
number of major companies including LVMH, Caterpillar, Textron,
Yell and Mandarin Oriental Hotels.
Lord Powell is also Chairman of the International Advisory Board
of Rolls-Royce, and a member of the Advisory Boards of Barrick
Gold, ACE, Alfa Capital, Thales, GEMS and Diligence.
Among other roles, he is Chairman of Atlantic Partnership,
Chairman of the Trustees of the Oxford University Business School
Foundation and is a Trustee of the Aspen Institute in the USA. He
is a cross-bench member of the House of Lords, where he serves on
the European Union Select Committee, and is Chairman of the
All-Party Parliamentary Group on Entrepreneurship.
