Takhti: a modern Iranian hero

A display of a recently acquired artwork by Iranian artist Khosrow Hassanzadeh, which offers a contemporary perspective on Iranian history, religion and culture.

It focuses on a wrestler Ghulamreza Takhti, Olympic medallist and national hero of Iran (d. 1968) whose title is jahan pahlavan ‘world hero’. The exhibition examines his place in history and the ancient roots of the wrestling tradition of Iran.
