Tomb 1

Lapis luzuli seal from Greece or Crete (around 1500 BC-1300 BC). Catalogue number 1.21

Contents: 21 registered objects; three registered in 1897, some doubt as to the definite provenance of the remaining 18 (see notes on the 1969 registration sequence) but it is likely that they are from this tomb. Five of the 1969 objects are fragments of the one gold spiral cut into pieces.

Tomb type and status: built tomb, disturbed
Additional information: the tomb was breached by a later well and possibly looted at this time, a large pithos sherd was within the tomb. One skeleton lay along the end opposite the door. Pottery sherds and whole vessels, including Late Helladic and Cypriot (Bucchero, Plain White, White Slip and Red Slip or Base Ring) and ‘several terracotta egg-shaped objects’ (possibly sling-shot pellets?).

Tomb 2

Contents: three registered objects
Materials/objects: gold strip, 19th Dynasty scarab, cylinder seal
Chronological range of objects: LCIB-LCIIC/IIIA, probably main period of use LCIIC/III
Tomb type and status: probably chamber tomb, presumably disturbed
Additional information: a ‘disc with hieroglyphics’, bronze fragments, two stone dishes, fragments of a faience cup and Bucchero Ware

Tomb 3

Contents: One stone vessel in the notebook but the tomb is not listed as assigned to either museum so it was perhaps not retained.
Tomb type and status: probably chamber tomb, presumably disturbed.

Tomb 4

Contents: held in the Cyprus Museum.
Materials/objects: goldwork, stone and faience beads, pottery
Chronological range of objects: LCIA or B-IIB/C, possibly later
Tomb type and status: probably chamber tomb, presumably disturbed
Additional information: bucchero, White Shaved, White Slip not retained? CVA CM: LH IIIA2 and IIIB. SCE IV1C: Monochrome, Base Ring I

Additional information: described as ‘sunk square in rock’ but whether this refers to the dromos or a shaft grave is uncertain. The only finds mentioned are sherds of Late Helladic pottery.

Additional information: gold bead and bracelet fragment plus fragmentary and whole vessels of Cypriot (Plain ware, White Shaved, additional White Slip, Base Ring) and Late Helladic pottery. Some material was allocated to the CM. CVA CM: LH IIIB.
