photobook (Scope note)

A bound book containing a sequence of photographs, by one photographer or several, either with or without accompanying text, often on a particular theme; with particular attention given to its design (binding, jacket, typography, paper, cover); described by Martin Parr and Gerry Badger as "an essay in photographs" ('The Photobook: A History', Phaidon, 2004). See also 'illustrated book'.
