Roman Republican (Scope note)

The Roman Republic is traditionally said to date from the expulsion of the last King of Rome in 510 BC. The end of the Republic can be dated to the battle of Actium in 31 BC or the date when Octavian took the title of Augustus in 27 BC. The former date is generally used for coins. For material issued in areas of Italy outside Roman rule during this period see 'Italic'.
