What just happened?

To celebrate Vikings Live, we have replaced our Roman alphabet with the runic alphabet used by the Vikings, the Scandinavian ‘Younger Futhark’. The ‘Younger Futhark’ has only 16 letters, so we have used some of the runic letters more than once or combined two runes for one Roman letter.

A sale of Bööcke's collection of Greek and Roman coins was held at Sotheby's (q.v.) in March 1850. His collection of antiquities was sold at Christie & Manson in June 1854. The British Museum purchased coins through Harry Osborn Cureton (q.v.). His property was sold at Sotheby's in June 1857.
