What just happened?

To celebrate Vikings Live, we have replaced our Roman alphabet with the runic alphabet used by the Vikings, the Scandinavian ‘Younger Futhark’. The ‘Younger Futhark’ has only 16 letters, so we have used some of the runic letters more than once or combined two runes for one Roman letter.

CIB Collection of paper money objects have the registration number CIB followed by a number. Those beginning CIB.EA followed by a number relate to the East Asian notes.

In 2006, the Chartered Institute of Bankers became the ifs School of Finance, and in 2009 the collection of paper money was given to the British Museum.
