What just happened?

To celebrate Vikings Live, we have replaced our Roman alphabet with the runic alphabet used by the Vikings, the Scandinavian ‘Younger Futhark’. The ‘Younger Futhark’ has only 16 letters, so we have used some of the runic letters more than once or combined two runes for one Roman letter.

Photographer; during the Pacific War, renamed the photography studio run by his father in Singapore (the Jii-chii-san (‘G. T. Sun = Graphic Times Sun’) Shōkai Studio) as the Yamahata Photographic Science Institute 山端写真研究所. From 1940 Yamahata was an official navy photographer and in August 1945 he photographed the immediate aftermath of the Nagasaki atomic bombing.
