What just happened?

To celebrate Vikings Live, we have replaced our Roman alphabet with the runic alphabet used by the Vikings, the Scandinavian ‘Younger Futhark’. The ‘Younger Futhark’ has only 16 letters, so we have used some of the runic letters more than once or combined two runes for one Roman letter.

Fujiwara Masanori (goldsmith/metalworker; Japanese; Male; 17thC)

Also known as

Masanori, Fujiwara; Masanori; Echizen Masanori


Swordsmith. Masanori I was originally from Tango Province, but worked in Kyoto and later moved to Echizen. Masanori II worked in Fukui in Echizen Province and also in Edo during the Kambun era (1661-73).
