What just happened?

To celebrate Vikings Live, we have replaced our Roman alphabet with the runic alphabet used by the Vikings, the Scandinavian ‘Younger Futhark’. The ‘Younger Futhark’ has only 16 letters, so we have used some of the runic letters more than once or combined two runes for one Roman letter.

James Caulfield, 1st Earl of Charlemont (politician/statesman; British; Male; 1728 - 1799)

Irish statesman and patron of the arts. He spent much of his life travelling abroad and living in London; returned to Dublin in 1773 and worked for Irish independence. He was opposed to Catholic emancipation.
