Scholar, bibliophile, collector and publisher (Firmin Didot Frères Fils) of facsimile oleographs. Eldest son of Firmin Didot (q.v.), the printer and type-cutter, who made a fortune from steam printing presses. Wrote many books on prints. Collection sold after his death, Paris 16 April to 12 May 1877, with 5795 lots. His books followed later. The total of all his sales was over 3 million francs.
