What just happened?

To celebrate Vikings Live, we have replaced our Roman alphabet with the runic alphabet used by the Vikings, the Scandinavian ‘Younger Futhark’. The ‘Younger Futhark’ has only 16 letters, so we have used some of the runic letters more than once or combined two runes for one Roman letter.

Montague Guest (politician/statesman; collector; British; Male; 1839 - 1909)

MP; third son of Lady Charlotte Schreiber (q.v.) by her first marriage. In 1906 presented his collection of admission tokens and cards to the BM, the cards were given a special stamp: see report by Sidney Colvin dated 3 December 1906. The collection is mentioned (but not listed) in the P&D register under 1906,1203. Other material is in P&E. His collection of 18th-century prints sold at Christie's, 7-8.iv.1910 and his library at Sotheby's 5-6.v.1910.
