16 Grosvenor Street, Mayfair, London (see Colvin's report of 4 February 1895; he had lived there since at least 1871 when he was listed there in the census)


Collector; friend of John Malcolm (q.v.); born in Baden, Germany, as a British subject (according to the 1861, 1871 and 1901 Census). Gave his collection of woodcuts to the BM in January 1895 (see stamp L.1817), and his books illustrated with woodcuts in 1904. His German drawings were sold by Prestel in Frankfurt, 7 May 1890, where 7 drawings were bought for the BM.
