Description
Illustration to "Don Juan Lamberto ...", 1661, an account of the fall of the protectorate and the passing of effective power to the army: in front of a tower labelled "Soldan's Palace" (i.e., the palace of Oliver Cromwell) stand a large man named "Gyant Desborough" holding a cannon, "Lambert" with drawn sword and, held between them, "Meek Knight", intended for Richard Cromwell.
