Curator's comments
Schoch dates the printing of the second edition to about 1540. However, the types suggest this was much closer to the first edition, and it was probably printed earlier (perhaps even in the same year?).
See G.Bartrum, ' Dürer and his Legacy' exhibition catalogue, London, British Museum, 2002, chapter 11 for Dürer's drawing for this woodcut, and related prints.
