Excavation in Egypt at Tell el-Balamun
Temple B: The subsidiary temple of Nekhtnebef
The subsidiary temple of Nekhtnebef was the subject of
excavation in 1992, when its date was first confirmed from
foundation deposits (see Summary of discoveries). Additional work
was carried out on the building in 1999, 2000 and 2004.All the
results from seasons prior to 2004 have been fully published (see
Published reports), and the work of 2004 is described in the papers
accessed through the links below.
A copy of the paper by Jeffrey Spencer, “The Temple of
Nekhtnebef at Tell el-Balamun”, previously published in slightly
different format in British Museum Studies in Ancient Egypt and
Sudan (BMSAES),4, pp.21-38, containing an account of the excavation
of the front part of the foundation of the temple in 2004, with
comments on the design of the entire monument.
