flask / aryballos

Pottery aryballos or flask in Bichrome ware; globular body with slightly concave, disc base; concave neck with central ridge and flaring, flat rim; narrow mouth; vertical strap handle from shoulder to ridge; buff clay with thick cream-white slip; decorated in black-purple and red paint; on each side of the handle, three vertical concentric red bands in frame a smaller set of concentric lines in the middle; three similar concentrics in a vertical line below the neck; black parallel lines on the neck with a solid black band on the handle; red-purple paint on and beneath the rim.
