The last New Kingdom tomb at Thebes: the end of a great tradition?
The funerary complex of Imiseba (TT 65) represents the end of the great tradition of the New Kingdom elite tomb complexes in the Theban necropolis. This is not a simplistic story of decline. Instead, such late Ramesside elite tombs offered a way of blending continuity and change whereby the limitations of the temple-tomb tradition could be exceeded, indeed transcended.
