The British Museum expedition to Elkab and Hagr Edfu, 2009

W. Vivian Davies and Elisabeth R. O’Connell

The British Museum has been working at the sites of Elkab and Hagr Edfu in Upper Egypt since 2001, with conservation, epigraphic documentation and mapping of the open pharaonic tombs.

From 2007, the documentation of late antique remains at Hagr Edfu, including the planning of architecture and the recording of inscriptions, has also formed part of the project. This paper summarises the results of the 2009 field season.
