What just happened?

To celebrate Vikings Live, we have replaced our Roman alphabet with the runic alphabet used by the Vikings, the Scandinavian ‘Younger Futhark’. The ‘Younger Futhark’ has only 16 letters, so we have used some of the runic letters more than once or combined two runes for one Roman letter.

Clean tarnish

Condition
The silver spoon has tarnished.

Treatment details
The tarnish was removed by using Silvo silver and chrome (cotton wadding,white spirit,Newburgh chalk,china clay). Silvo residues were cleaned by swabbing with White Spirit (composition variable - petroleum distillate). The object was degreased by using Acetone (propan-1-one/dimethyl ketone). The object was renumbered.
