What just happened?

To celebrate Vikings Live, we have replaced our Roman alphabet with the runic alphabet used by the Vikings, the Scandinavian ‘Younger Futhark’. The ‘Younger Futhark’ has only 16 letters, so we have used some of the runic letters more than once or combined two runes for one Roman letter.

Light clean to remove tarnish on one side. Remove white deposits.

Condition
Tarnished on one side. (note that the two sides are made from two slightly different coloured alloys).

Treatment details
Cleaned using Industrial methylated spirits (ethanol, methanol) applied on cotton wool swabs.Cleaned using Silvo (cotton wadding, white spirit, Newburgh chalk, china clay) and degreased with acetone.Cleaned using acetone applied on cotton wool swabs.
