What just happened?

To celebrate Vikings Live, we have replaced our Roman alphabet with the runic alphabet used by the Vikings, the Scandinavian ‘Younger Futhark’. The ‘Younger Futhark’ has only 16 letters, so we have used some of the runic letters more than once or combined two runes for one Roman letter.

Handle is solid silver with two band sof beading, broadening out to the end where a small loop attaches a moveable silver ring or suspension loop.  Bowl of ladle is contorted, but had beaded rim and zones of decorating in triangles.  Bowl has small foot-ring with beaded carination above. Several rivet holes, one with rivet in-situ near one edge of top of bowl, for attachment to handle.
