Reason for treatment
Clean, consolidate, repair, repack as neccessary
five large and several smaller fragments of iron with wood mineralised remains. Packed inadequately in polystyrene foam. heavily consolidated.
the fragments were examined and one join was found which was readhered with HMG Paraloid B72. the fragments were repacked in acid free tissue lined plastazote in a crystal box with the registration number on the lid and on a tyvek label placed under the packing. Old labels and stickers were placed in a polyethylene self seal bag with the registration number on to be archived seperately from the object.
