Re-House. See req's 88991-88998.
The object was housed in a glass vial with a cork stopper, and was rehoused with the other Sutton Hoo material. See req's 88991 - 88998
The object was put onto Jiffy foam, (polyethylene), in a polystyrene box. Extra long pieces of foam were cut to line the sides of the box to protect the fragments from the hard plastic should they touch the sides, as well as to facilitate ease of lifting the fragments out of the box.Old labels were removed from the old packing and placed into a polyethylene bag labelled with the registration number which can be archived and easily referenced back to the objects. The new boxes are labelled with the registration number on the lid and side, and on the cotton twill tabs.
