Curator's comments
Although Koshiro played the role of a sumo wrestler (‘sekitori’) several times in his career (including in productions at the Nakamura-za in the 1st month of 1792 and at the Kiri-za in the 4th month of 1794), this seems to be the only occasion he did so when Hangoro was also appearing at the same theatre. (P. Griffith 8/2012)
