- Curator's comments
- This is one of the three English views from a group of 18 watercolours, mostly of Wales, bequeathed by Lloyd in 1958 (1958,0712.384, 1958,0712.385). The three represent Worcester, Malvern Abbey and Goodrich Castle, all very close to the Welsh border. Smith paints the city and its famous cathedral, but without depicting the river, which was usually included by other artists, for example by Turner (see 1958,0712.438).
This watercolour is one of a group of 18 from the Lloyd Bequest; for more information about the group, see 1958,0712.368
