Reason for treatment
Lift. Remove debris. Inlay. Mount. Stamp.
Adhered around edges to solid mount. Slight discolouration. Inscription in brown ink at top of verso.
Lifted from mount by undercutting with a scalpel. Paper debris removed from verso by applying a poultice of Culminal (nonionic cellulose ether) and scraping with a scalpel. Adhesive residue removed using cotton wool swabs moistened with water. Humidified over capillary matting and Gore-Tex in a chamber and pressed. Inlaid using Japanese paper strips and Culminal (nonionic cellulose ether) adhesive and pressed again.
