Reason for treatment
Metals: Attempt to improve the appearance of the silver metal threads around the collar area. . .
Metals: Both the silver thread and the strip have a lyer of tarnish on their surfaces.
Metals: The thread and strip was cleaned using a Drafix rubber eraser, which was sharpened to a blunt point and gently rubbed over the metal surface. This successfully removed the bulk of the tarnish. Any residues were removed with swabs of acetone, and loose pieces of rubber dust were removed with a soft brush and a gentle vacuum.
