Arrows exhibit loss of feathers, feathers detached and misshaped.Some fibres are loose.One arrow had the blade loose.
Arrows were cleaned with a fine sable brush and the low power museum vacuum cleaner, with the nozzle protected with a piece of net not to remove unwanted particles.Loose fibres were secured with a drop of Klucel G (hydroxypropil cellusose) at 10%w/v in acetone.The loose blade of one of the arrows was secured with a piece of coloured Japanese tissue paper and Klucel G at 10% w/v in acetone.Misshaped feathers were aligned by moistening them with a brush slightly moistened in 50% v/v deionised water and Industrial Methylated Spirits.Broken feathers were secured in place with a drop of 40% w/v Mowilith 50 (polyvinyl acetate) in acetone.
