Clean wire and blade.
Dirt and dust present on the steel blade of the knife. The blade is pitted and uneven with areas of patchy, dark corrosion. The wire handle of the knife is also dirty and dusty and the brass wire is discoloured with tarnish.
The steel blade of the knife was cleaned using Solvol Autosol (diatomaceous earth, methylated soap, white spirit). This was applied to the surface using cotton swabs. The brass wire handle was cleaned using Brasso (abrasives, white spirit, fatty acids, water). The brasso residues were removed using white spirit and a final swab with Acetone (propan-1-one/dimethyl ketone).
