- Curator's comments
- The great trading centre of Casas Grandes in the desert reaches of northern Mexico was a key point of contact between the Pueblo cultures of what is today the southwestern United States and Mexican civilization to the south. The lively interaction between these two spheres of influence helped spawn a distinctive aesthetic tradition that finds expression in a combination of sensous modelled forms with bold geometric, polychrome designs.
