Reason for treatment
clean to remove chemical residues, dirt and tarnish
glass bristle brush residue on surfcae of objects, chemical residues present in the form of blue crystals. remains of textile in very bad condition due to past chemical treatment. areas of thick adhesive over textile.
objects with adhesive over textile were soaked in acetone to remove the adhesive. textile remains cleaned by gently brushing with a soft brush. extreely fragile areas of the textile were consolidated with a 2.5% solution of Paraloid B72 in acetone. front of the fittings were swabbed with IMS/acetone.
