Check surface and consolidate where necessary.
The painted surface is actively flaking and detaching from the ceramic body. The object is in otherwise stable condition.
The surface was checked under the microscope for stability and loose and lifting areas were consolidated using a 3-5% solution of Paraloid B72 (ethyl methacrylate copolymer) in Acetone (propan-1-one/dimethyl ketone), as needed. The consolidant was applied using micropipettes under magnification.
