Pottery: black-figured amphora. Designs black on red panels with borders of double honeysuckle along the top; accessories of purple, and traces of white. The tendency of archaic art to make the extremities of figures tapering is here exaggerated.
(a) Departure of warriors: In the centre, two warriors marching to left, with visored helmets, greaves, spears, and shields; the shield of the former has the device of a tripod, that of the latter a snake. Between them is a dog walking to right. On the left is a male figure, to right, with long hair, long chiton and himation; on the right a bearded male figure to left, in long chiton and himation; both carry spears.
(b) In the centre a horseman, probably Troilos, beardless, with long hair and short chiton, riding to right, with another horse at his off-side; beneath the horse is a man on a small scale running to left, nude and beardless. In front of the horseman are two male figures to left, the first one bearded, in a long chiton and himation, caressing the horses with left hand, the other nude and beardless, with hair tied in a club. Behind the horseman are two male figures to right, the first nude and beardless, with hair in a club, left hand raised, the second bearded, in a long chiton and himation, with spear in left hand.
