  • Description

    Mould-made pottery lamp with a voluted angular-tipped nozzle, a rounded shoulder and an inward-sloping moulded rim. The discus is defined by a groove, and is decorated with a wading bird holding a pair of scales is its bill; a mouse in one balance pan weighs down a small elephant in the other. Within the base-ring is a foot-print, probably containing the name CLOD. Covered with a streaky red-brown slip. Part of the underside of the nozzle is missing.
