  • Description

    Remains of a mitre or cap, consisting of fragments from the lower part of the crown and the two infulae, or fillets. White silk decorated with two wide braids and one narrow; infulae end in fringe. Braid runs around the lower edge of crown and across bottom of infulae; narrow braid of silk in crimson and gold runs down the infulae; edges both these braids and also runs up the amber brocaded silk centre front and back of mitre. White silk used for the crown, decorated with large scale design of bands of dark blue with silver and gold woven diaper, painted birds within roundels, the roundel frame with flower buds and curled stems between rows of pearls. Vertical and horizontal repeat of patterm.
